Private support for programs in music and the arts is just one area where your funds can make a difference.
Gifts to the college open doors for our students, create infinite opportunities for new areas to explore in research, and empower our faculty to build even stronger programs. You can help make a direct impact on the college's future with your gift.
Areas you can support are listed below and we welcome you to explore these opportunities to see what you connect with in the college. Limitless possibilities abound thanks to your philanthropic support.
Unfortunately the College of Letters & Science is only able to support a small percentage of its students in need of financial support. The current endowment of $30 million supports those students with the greatest need – but it will take a $150 million endowment to support all of those students in need of support. Your gift to student scholarships and fellowships will open doors for our future generations.
With over 500 faculty in the college, support of the teaching and research that these professors do is vital to the continued strength of the college. By supporting faculty, you are supporting the teachers of our children and the discoveries of our future.
Private gifts supplement grants from governments and foundations for research projects across the college. Private gifts supporting research allow for new areas of study to be explored and new discoveries to be made. Private gifts in 2005-06 alone helped fund the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope project which is set to launch in 2012, an exploration into how music affects the brain, and energy-efficient lighting research.
Supporting a department or program that you believe in helps strengthen the research and teaching within that area. A list of the departments and programs in the college can help direct you to one that you might want to help. Visit our Departments and Programs page.
