UC Davis Dedicates Historic Native American Garden (November, 18 2009)

California Indian song, bustling tours and quiet, personal moments were all part of the dedication on Nov. 14 of a new outdoor reflective space honoring the Patwin who once lived on the land that would become the University of California, Davis. The Native American Contemplative Garden is part of a larger UC Davis project -- believed to be the first at any public university in the nation -- to honor the land's original inhabitants and to educate the campus and its visitors about them. Cave Study Links Climate Change to California Droughts (November, 10 2009)

California experienced centuries-long droughts in the past 20,000 years that coincided with the thawing of ice caps in the Arctic, according to a new study by UC Davis doctoral student Jessica Oster and geology professor Isabel Montanez. Full Story

Earth and Physical Sciences Building Dedicated (November, 3 2009)

On Thursday, November 5, California Assemblywoman Alyson Huber (D-El Dorado Hills) will join UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi, Winston Ko, dean of the Division of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, and guests to dedicate the new Earth and Physical Sciences Building on campus. The three-story $65.5 million building comprises 90,000 gross square feet and will provide a new home for the Department of Geology, as well as teaching laboratories and facilities for the departments of Geology, Chemistry and Physics.
