L&S at Picnic Day 2017
This year’s Picnic Day Parade Marshals are both faculty in the College of Letters and Science. Bryan Enderle is a popular Chemistry Lecturer who was awarded the ASUCD Excellence in Education Award in 2012. Isao Fujimoto is the founder of the Community Development program and Asian American studies program and is a Constantine Panunzio Distinguished Emeriti Award winner. Enderle and Fujimoto were honored for promoting the growth and inspiration of UC Davis students and the community as a whole.
Picnic Day April 22, 2017
This family friendly event is free for all to come and experience the richness of diversity and achievement at UC Davis and the surrounding community in the areas of research, teaching, service and campus life. More than 200 events will take place throughout campus and will include exhibits, shows, competitions, demonstrations, entertainment, animal and athletic events, Student Organization Fair, Children’s Discovery Fair, Parade and much more.
All events and parking are free! Picnic Day is one of UC Davis’ most revered traditions and serves as the university’s annual Open House for prospective and current students, families, alumni, staff, faculty, and the greater Davis and regional communities.
College of Letters and Science Picnic Day Events
The College hosts its own exciting events, presentations and exhibitions on Picnic Day, including the wildly popular Chemistry Show, the annual Fashion Show, free performances by the UC Davis Symphony Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble, and hands-on activities in geology, physics, math and stats.

The popular UC Davis Chemistry Show will return for Picnic Day. Four shows will be held in Peter A. Rock Hall at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Table demonstrations will take place in the Chemistry Building courtyard adjacent to Rock Hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets for the Chemistry Show are free and will be handed out from the ticket booth in front of Rock Hall on Picnic Day. Tickets will be available on a first-come basis with a maximum of two tickets per person in line. Ticket distribution begins at 9 a.m. for the two morning shows and 11:45 a.m. for the two afternoon shows.
Design Museum: A Site for Convergence

Exhibition features photographs, drawings, scale models and prototypes associated with the design process for the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art.

A professionally-staged runway show spotlighting stunning garments created and executed by students in the UC Davis Department of Design. Live streaming available for 1:30 p.m. show.
UC Davis Symphony Orchestra
Mondavi Center for the Arts, 12 noon, Free
Under the direction of Christian Baldini, the UC Davis Symphony Orchestra will perform a one-hour concert.
Jazz @ UC Davis
