San Francisco Young Alumni Program

When Lauren Levin (B.A., communications, ‘11) and Jacqueline Wells (B.A., English, ‘06) wanted to connect with a group of College of Letters and Science young alumni in the Bay Area and found no such group existed, they did what Aggies do: they made it happen themselves.

Young Alumni: Recent Graduates Take the Lead on Giving BackNow the newly-formed San Francisco Young Alumni Program of the College of Letters and Science is off and running with three events under its belt, including a lively April 5 event at the historic jazz lounge, Monroe SF. The group hopes to support its young alumni from L&S with social and professional networking, mentoring and a continuing connection to UC Davis.

“We know that there are many alumni in the Bay Area, from recent grads to those who are more established in their careers,” said group co-leader Wells. “We want to create a group where everyone feels that they are welcome and can participate.”

Interested Bay Area L&S young alumni are invited to join in building this initiative by reaching out on Facebook. And soon, there will be a website for the group with info and upcoming events.

Group co-leader Levin is particularly looking forward to building a group of alumni with different experiences and strengths. “One of the most striking qualities of the UC Davis Letters and Science graduates is their diversity,” said Levin. “We want to showcase that diversity by encouraging everyone, from most recent grads to well-established alumni, to participate in our association.”
