A five-year, National Institutes of Health-funded study that revealed new insights into teen bullying, dating violence and substance use is getting a sequel — this time looking at long-term impacts of racism.

New York comedy duo Nehemiah Markos and Jed Feiman have released a 50th anniversary edition of the racially conscious Monopoly-style game, Blacks & Whites, created in 1970 by the late psychology professor Robert Sommer.

Recent violence against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders will be the focus of an online forum on Wednesday, May 5, featuring six professors of history, Asian American studies and law. The town hall meeting will be held 4:30–6 p.m. PDT.

A recent UC Davis College of Letters and Science graduate has been awarded a prestigious Marshall Scholarship, a decades-old British government program that pays for American students to pursue advanced degrees at British universities. Valencia Scott (B.A., anthropology and international relations, ’20) will pursue a doctorate in criminology at the University of Oxford, where she will focus her studies on the criminalization of Black immigrants. She is planning a career in international human rights law.

Award-winning author and sociologist Aldon Morris will visit Davis on Thursday, May 10 to give a talk, “W. E. B. Du Bois at the Center: From Science, Civil Rights Movement to Black Lives Matter.”
