Readmission

College of Letters & Science Readmission Philosophy

We (your academic advisors in the College of Letters and Science Undergraduate Education and Advising), are here to help. We want to acknowledge that the readmission process can be confusing. We are here to support you and your return to UC Davis. The readmission process is designed to help identify issues and concerns that you have and to receive targeted advising, resource referrals, and support in your return to UC Davis.

What is Readmission?

Readmission is the process for any student who has been away from UC Davis for one or more academic quarters, who withdrew, were dismissed, or were suspended from the university and therefore needs to apply to return to the university. Please note: the readmission process is separate from PELP, and has different requirements. The readmission process is different than the admission application you completed when applying to UC Davis. Instead, this process will focus on setting you up for success upon your return for your first quarter back.

Readmission & Academic Standing

Academic standing may impact the next steps to your readmission application. If you left UC Davis not in good standing, we may require meeting with the College of Letters & Science Undergraduate Education Office to discuss readmission.

Applying for Readmission

If you are interested in applying for readmission, please follow these steps:

Important Notes about Readmission Applications
  • Readmission applications cannot be approved for students with active holds.
  • If you leave the university as a result of OSSJA suspension while in good academic standing or on academic probation, you may apply for readmission once when you have satisfied the OSSJA requirements for readmission.
  • Official transcripts from all institutions attended while on dismissed or withdrawn status must be submitted to the College of Letters & Science.
  • If you intend to receive Financial Aid, contact the Financial Aid and Scholarships office before starting the readmission process.
Preparing for your Readmission Appointment

As you prepare for your appointment with your Dean’s Office advisor, here are some questions to consider:

  • Are you planning to continue with your current major or do you plan to change your major?
  • If you plan on changing majors, or are still exploring your major, the College of Letters & Science has many resources for you to utilize. We recommend using the following resources and strategies to explore over 100 majors and minors offered at UC Davis:

    Majors Card Sort Tool
    General Catalog
List of College of Letters and Science Majors and Minors
  • Have you met with your major advisor or intended major advisor to develop a three-quarter or graduation plan?
  • We recommend all students meet with their major or intended major advising offices to create a plan to be successful in your first quarter back at UC Davis. You can find major advising information for the College of Letters & Science.

If you wish to change majors into a difference college after you are readmitted, you can contact advisors in the College of Engineering, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and/or College of Biological Sciences
  • Have you taken classes at a community college, 4-year institution, another UC, or UC Davis Open campus?
  • If so, please send your official transcripts to UC Davis Undergraduate Admissions, and plan to bring an unofficial transcript of all additional coursework to your appointment.
  • Did you meet with an advisor in the Dean's Office to establish your next steps for readmission? If so, do you have questions about the document provided?
  • If your readmission success agreement requires UC Davis Summer Session, please review the UC Davis Summer Session website for information about applications, enrollment, and deadlines.
  • Have you been in contact with Financial Aid concerning your return to UC Davis and aid status?
  • We recommend contacting Financial Aid should you have any questions regarding your aid status.
  • Do you have active holds?
  • Readmission applications cannot be approved for students with active holds. If you have access to OASIS, you can see if you have any active holds on the homepage of your OASIS account.
